Dental Floss that freshens your breath
Dentists recommend daily flossing because brushing your teeth only cleans three of a tooth’s five surfaces. Now Jordan is launching the Nordic region’s first dental floss with added toothpaste. This means you won’t only have clean teeth, but fresh breath too!
Norwegian dentists recommend daily flossing. Even so, 58 per cent of Norwegians use dental floss either rarely or never. One reason for this may be that flossing doesn’t give the same feeling of freshness as brushing.
“Dental Floss is effective for removing the plaque that causes cavities and inflammation of the gums between the teeth, but it also helps freshen the breath by removing food particles along with odour-causing bacteria. Our new dental floss also has added toothpaste, so you can be sure of having extra fresh breath after using it,” says Jordan dental hygienist Renate Derås.
Choose your colour
The new dental floss comes in two thicknesses, so you can find the one that suits your teeth best.
“Some people have bigger gaps between their teeth than others. This means it is important to find a dental floss to suit your individual requirements if you want to be sure you are cleaning your teeth properly,” says Derås.
“For this reason we’ve launched two types of dental floss to make it easier for people to choose the one that is right for them. The dental floss in the blue dispenser, Jordan Easy Slide, is specially designed for people whose teeth are set close together. This dental floss is extra thin so it is easy to get it between the teeth. It also doesn’t fray. The dental floss in the green dispenser, Jordan Expand, suits people who have medium-sized gaps between their teeth. This dental floss expands during use to ensure gentle and effective cleaning. Many of us have larger gaps between some teeth than others. If this is the case, it’s a good idea to use a combination of the green and the blue dental floss,” says Derås.
TNS Gallup has tested the dental floss on a group of consumers and the results showed that 80 per cent preferred the new dental floss to their current dental floss.
“We hope that the launch of these new products will help encourage Norwegians to floss more frequently,” says Derås.
Tips for using dental floss:
1) Pull a suitable length of dental floss from the dispenser and break it off.
2) To clean between your lower teeth, twist the dental floss around your index fingers so that you have optimal control while you use the dental floss to “saw” or “file” between your teeth. To clean between your upper teeth, keep the dental floss twisted around your index fingers, but use your thumbs as well to give extra support.
3) You should pull the dental floss 2 mm below your gumline to ensure the whole surface of each tooth is clean.
