Do you brush too hard?
Brushing too hard can cause permanent damage to teeth and gums!
Brushing too firmly can cause the gums to recede, exposing parts of the roots of the teeth. The crown itself is hard and covered by enamel, but the root of the tooth consists of dentine, which is softer. Exposed necks of teeth may cause sensitive teeth and can mar the looks of otherwise well-cared-for teeth. Moreover, such areas will be more vulnerable to cavities and gum disease.
Jordan has introduced products to help prevent brushing damage. Jordan toothbrushes with feedback systems will help you change your style of brushing if you brush too hard. When you apply too much pressure the toothbrush will bend and give way with a noticeable “click”. The mechanism sits in a joint in the middle of the handle and will be felt as a click under your thumb when you brush too hard. When it “clicks”, you will automatically compensate by reducing the pressure and give your teeth more gentle treatment. With the right amount of brushing pressure, the toothbrush handle will feel like a traditional stiff handle. You can also reduce wear on your teeth by choosing a toothbrush with soft bristles. Jordan Click, Gum Protector, Click Teen and T42 are available in three bristle qualities - medium, soft and super soft.
